Details
An exceptional Antique French 950 Silver Fish Serving Set, beautifully hand-crafted during the Belle Époque period and presented in a period case.
This elegant two-piece serving set comprises a finely pierced fish slice and matching serving fork, both displaying superb hand engraving, delicate scrollwork and finely chased decoration. The fish slice is particularly striking, featuring an elaborate openwork design incorporating a beautifully engraved fish motif, a hallmark of high-quality French silver craftsmanship.
Both pieces are struck with the French Minerva hallmark for 950 silver, confirming they were made from France’s prestigious first standard silver (95% pure silver), a higher silver content than the British sterling standard of 925.
The presentation case, lined with dark velvet and silk, further enhances the collectability and makes this an impressive display piece for collectors of antique French silver.
Whether displayed in a silver collection, used for formal dining or given as a special gift, this is a refined example of late 19th to early 20th century French silversmithing.
